What Is RED Day? And What It Means To Us!

By Jamie Broll

Each year on the second Thursday of May, Keller Williams Realty celebrates RED Day as a part of our legacy worth leaving. RED Day, which stands for Renew, Energize and Donate, is Keller Williams annual day of service.

For our second year in a row, we showed our gratitude and appreciation to our local emergency responders by delivering meals to local employees at Allina Health-EMS, Hutchinson Fire Department and Hutchinson Police Department. These jobs can sometimes be taken for granted and the mental and physical toll on them is substantial! We just want them to know we see them and know they have a substantial impact on making our community amazing! Thank you for keeping our streets safe and saving lives!

Our team then headed to volunteer for the morning at Park Towers and South Park in Hutchinson. This was in collaboration with a small group of participants in the Hutchinson Leadership Institute Program. The need was identified to help the hard-working, but small maintenance crew, who has not had the time or resources to complete.

We did various tasks that made the exterior of the property refreshed! We cleaned up landscaping around the building blowing out leaves and debris in the rock beds, cleaned out the bike rack area by hauling away broken and unclaimed bikes, painted the bike rack, cleaned windows on the ground floor, prepped raised garden beds and pots for residents “Adopt-a-Pot” program, cleaned patio furniture and prepped the patio for summer, and picked up sticks around South Park to prepare for the afternoon’s tree planting in the park by New Century Academy students.

We accomplished a lot with our group and glad we can give back to our local community. While this is one day a year Keller Williams Realty comes together to volunteer, many members on our team volunteer on a weekly and monthly basis to various community causes independently. The Broll Team also supports local non-profits at their quarterly client events including Crow River Habitat for Humanity, McLeod Alliance, and McLeod County Food Shelf. As a team, we volunteer several times a year at Common Cup’s Backpack program.

For us, volunteering is even more fun together and it just feels good to give back!
